#24 How Clearwater County Is Using Open Access to Bridge the Digital Divide

Clearwater County in west-central Alberta is building a county-owned Open Access fiber network to deliver reliable, high-speed connectivity across a large rural area—while enabling competition and protecting long-term public value.

Facing unreliable broadband and limited provider choice, the County adopted a multi-year Open Access strategy that separates infrastructure ownership from service delivery. The result: shared fiber infrastructure, multiple ISPs, and 24/7 operations without scaling County staff.

#22 Open Access Comes Alive at Network X Paris

At Network X 2025 in Paris, the Broadband Forum Innovation Demos served as a powerful stage to demonstrate what open access looks like when it actually works. For us, this was a great opportunity to demonstrate our platform and automation in action—not as theory, but as a live, end-to-end customer journey.

The demo showcased Fixed Access Network Sharing, where multiple virtual network operators share the same physical infrastructure while remaining fully isolated at the service level. Each operator ran on its own virtual OLT instance, while the infrastructure provider retained full visibility and control across the network. All of it orchestrated automatically, using open standards.

#19 See You at Metro Connect 2026

We're heading back to Metro Connect,  and I couldn’t be more excited!
Last year’s conversations in Fort Lauderdale were electric. This February, we're coming in with our sleeves rolled up to talk about what really moves the needle for operators and investors — where fiber, fixed wireless, and smart wholesale models intersect and actually deliver returns.

#17 Smarter Door-to-Door Sales for Fiber: Introducing COS Prospector

Sell More With a Better Sales Platform

Door-to-door and phone sales are still some of the most effective ways to drive fiber take-rates — but only when they’re done with the right tools.

Too often, fiber sales teams are forced to work with:

  • Messy address lists
  • No clear view of fiber deployment or service status
  • Reps accidentally overlapping territories
  • Limited insight into what’s actually happening in the field
  • Generic sales tools weren’t built for fiber — and it shows.

#16 ISP Consolidation Success

The Smarter Fiber M&A Model Investors Are Turning To

As fiber broadband consolidation accelerates across North America, investors and Tier-1 operators face a paradox: while acquisitions promise scale and operational leverage, traditional integration playbooks often delay returns and unintentionally erode the very revenue they set out to grow. The prevailing strategy — merge brands, unify systems, consolidate staff — may look efficient on paper, but in practice it frequently triggers churn, stalls time-to-market, and inflates integration costs.

The ISP Consolidation Success whitepaper highlights a more effective approach: optimize operations while preserving the revenue-generating engines — the local brands, customer relationships, and market trust that smaller ISPs have spent decades building.
